May Fly High Awards

Congratulations to our Fly High Award recipients!

We are proud to honor LeaAnn Lee, Head Custodian at Augusta Middle School, and Christy Watkins, 1st Grade Teacher at Ewalt Elementary School, with this month’s Fly High Award for their exceptional service and commitment to USD 402.

LeaAnn consistently goes above and beyond to keep AMS running smoothly. She arrives early to ensure the building is clean and ready for the day, oversees a team of five evening custodians, and regularly works extra hours to support after-school and weekend events. This year, she also took on additional responsibilities—managing the district mail route and copy duties during a 12-week leave—all while maintaining her regular custodial role. Her dedication and reliability are truly remarkable.

Christy Watkins, a 19-year veteran of USD 402, is a leader both in and out of the classroom. In addition to her outstanding work with students, she serves as a mentor—both formally and informally—to staff in the primary hallway. Always willing to share ideas, problem-solve, and support others, Christy planned and led two professional learning sessions this January and continues to explore new curriculum resources to support her team. Her knowledge, initiative, and passion are invaluable to the Ewalt community.
